Algared takes

Good quality cloth cap (unless borygg desire it, since with the excellent kurbul cap it will give be better protection I think than a plate half helm against B, P and F and only a little lower versus E, and be 2 lbs lighter)

Borygg considers what Algared says and agrees with him. "You're right, Algared, that plate helm may just get in my way. I'll take take the kurbul halfhelm and cloth cap. That leaves the plate halfhelm for someone else or we can try to trade it for something we need."

After listening to Algared, Borygg decides against taking the plate half-helm. He opts instead for one of the new kurbul half-helms (excellent or good, whichever Algared isn't taking) to replace the one he has (which I assume is only average quality). He will also take a cloth cap.

Borygg also takes a few practice swings with the warhammer and decides he doesn't like the feel of it. He puts it back on the pile and picks up his trusty old club.

"Borygg this is a great bow, the yew is fine grained and it has an excellent spring. If you are to be our archer, perhaps you should try the pull of the bow to see if it suits you. It looks like it will be accurate and hard wearing"

Borygg takes the bow from Barak, strings it and gives it a pull. "Thanks, Barak, it does look to be a finer weapon than the one I carry. If you don't want it, I will take it."

Forgive my unfamiliarity with HM3 rules here, but does "good" add +1 and "excellent" add +2 to WQ and armour protection values? I see in HM3 that each +1 doubles the price of weapons, but what about armour?]

The quality is only a descriptive term based on the general concesus of the group. It is not a reliable conversion tool. Purely decriptive - most players not only want to know what is available but also the condition that item is in.

OOC: I was only counting them to roughly balance out the numbers. It won't count towards the 1/3 we owe the Daas.

In order to update my character, did anyone end up taking the Gambeson of Good quality or did Algared swap it for his average gambeson? Also, which quilt hood was taken or given to Algared? At present I also assume Borygg took algared's advice and took the good cloth cap and excellent kurbul 1/2 helm over a plate half helm.. and of course only if our resident armour adreed that together they would give roughly the same protection and encumber the archer less.

Whilst Barak was offered the gambeson he didn't take it. Looking at Kulgad's posting it looks to me like you got it (at least no one else did).

The crystal is a red smooth cylinder about 10" long and 2" in dia.

The crystal seems to be made of an unknown substance that looks and feels similar to glass as opposed to any other mineral and is translucent and unadorned.
