Re: 22 Peonu 720
All his comrades rushing off to work has given Bjarni an appetite and a thirst. First stop, the meadhall. See if he can win some money from the yokels in arm wrestling or something.

"Indeed Barak, I'd be eager to practice with you. I've rarely had to shoot at targets as small as a man."

" I wasn't planning on being your target" says Barak "I normally target squirrels or songbirds, anything bigger is too easy. But there is a tree stump that will make an excellent target for you."

As the warbands numbers begin to thin Kugald gathers his equipment together and seemingly in deep thought bids those remaining a farewell with a promise to catch up later at the meadhall. Jurri noticing that Kugald is preparing to leave quickly gathers his gear too and like Kugald makes his farewells till later this afternoon.
Kuglad and Jurri make their way towards the thranholds gatehouse before they disappear out of sight quickly behind the crest of the hill.
No sooner had Kugald and Jurri disappeared from view than Barak and Sigrun stand collect their gear and head off towards the south east chatting with each other before they too had disappeared behind the hedges and trees of the fields as they go in search of a spot where they can practice with their bows.
Borygg and Bjarni remain now resting in the shade of the thranhold wall. Resting there for a while the two decide it is time to visit the meadhall.

Bjarni made up his mind it was time to visit the meadhall an hour ago. "Come on Borygg, let's wash this dust from our mouths"

Borygg and Bjarni gather their equipment together and head off towards the meadhall,
Entering the hall you find the building nearly empty, except for the staff of the hall there is no one else, it would seem the midday rush is over. The hearth fire lies smouldering with a few thin wisps of smoke rising slowly towards the roof top.
Finding a table, you both take a seat and are quickly served an ale by Shella one of the serving girls.

Borygg and Bjarni swap stories and lies while sharing a few ales before the rest of the group arrive.

"....and it was this big", says Bjarni as he indicates with his hands wide apart, "but it got away"

"Now I know you are bullshitting me. That sort of thing only happens in those bawdy tales in Penthran magazine"

It is during your third ale that a few other patrons begin to enter the meadhall. They take their seats in small groups and begin to chat amongst themselves meanwhile the hall staff continue to go about their business bringing tankards of ale and mead to the new arrivals.
With day fast approaching its end the number of patrons to the hall begins to grow.
Eirjyk is the first to arrive at the meadhall, with about half a watch of daylight left. Kugald is the next to arrive, he is quickly followed by Jurri. Sigrun and Barak are the next to arrive. Algared and Zeoul are the last to arrive with barely any daylight left.

Eijryk sits down at Bjarni and Borygg's table and orders an ale from the first serving girl he sees.
"So boys, did you spend the whole afternoon practicing?", he asks. "If we would meet tomorrow morning again I can spend all day practicing since I'm unemployed again.", he continues. He doesn't seem unhappy about it though.
"Bjarni did you say you come from Orbaal? Never been there, but I treated a Jarin hunter who came from there, when I worked in Burzyn."

"A Jarin hunter? He was a long way from home. Orbaal is a beautiful country, in many ways like this place," Bjarni indicates with a wave of his hand. "But we have troubles. War is coming I suspect. Another rebellion perhaps. I was a child in the last one but remember how terrified my mother was."

The hearth fire is brought to life as evening approaches, its radiant heat fills the hall as the smoke wafts throughout the hall and slowly filters out the roof. The hall fills with the familiar scent of cooking food, whale oil from the lanterns and sawdust upon the floor.
As the night continues the number of patrons increases, there are a few familiar faces among the crowd, they are the same people coming back each night. The hall echoes with their conversations, laughter and song. They stay for a few ales a meal the group chats for awhile and by early evening they depart to their clanhouses.
The staff of the meadhall work feverishly attending to the customers. They see that your group is kept sated with both drink and food through the night. A meal of pork broth and vegetables are served with rye bread.
After about a half a watch of darkness the group break up and return to their clanhouses once outside they notice for the first time a light rain has been falling and from the look of it, the rain has been falling for a least a quarter watch perhaps a little longer.
Barak remains behind inside the meadhall and helps the others clean up before clearing the hall of the tables and benches and unrolling a straw filled pallet to sleep on.
By the time the others have reached their clanhouses they are a little damp from the falling rain. Drying off the warband turn in for the night.
