Re: 3 Saraju 720
Throughout the afternoon the band try to prepare and train. When Barak returns Algared says, "It is good you have returned and been successful Barak. We'll all need to get ready for the feast shortly. Remember it is a celebration of a victory of a new ally, though we can remember the fallen."

With Barak off hunting the warband spends some time in the afternoon getting to practice and work together discussing different options that they might use while out moving from point to point.
Soon the warband begins to practice their offensive and defensive options when combat should occur, discussion moves from person to person as options are discussed and practiced, then considered and either changed, discarded or accepted.
It proves to be a useful few hours as the warband begin to gel into a fighting formation, although more practice will be needed to become well drilled.
With Baraks return to the clearing he catches the others by surprise as they were concentrating on other issues.
Considering the time, the warband decide that enough training has been done today and make their way back to the thran. Arriving back at the thran, Barak takes a some time to skin the two hares before making his way up to the thranaal where he delivers one of the hares to one of the cooks, Barak ensures that his delivery is noted as his due to the Valhakar before making his way to Sordi's workhouse where he is able to exchange the two hare pelts for a 1/2 lbs of dried mutton. Barak then makes his way to the meadhall where he offers the other hare to Jabor. The man smiles and nods his appreciation, Jabor says that it will be a nice addition to the pot.
Meanwhile the others have been preparing themselves for the coming feast, having rid themselves of their dirty sweaty armour and clothing they have spent some time washing in preparation for the coming festivities. By the time Barak arrives the wash bowl is unattended and the others well underway with their own grooming for tonight.

Bjarni will do what he can as far as making himself presentable. He has the clothes he stands up in. I know others have offered him some gear but I suspect that unless they have recently lost a lot of weight they wont have spare clothes.

Barak makes himself as presentable as he ever is (since he dosn't have any particularly fine clothes, that is not saying much).
"I have a lovely dress that might fit you" he jokes with Bjarni as the latter tries to clean up his tunic.

Meldun dresses in his nice tunic, put on his jewelery and readies himself for the feast. While washing and dressing, he will be much quieter than normal, with a solemn look to his countenance.

Eijryk will clean off the sweat from the practice and put on his nicest Melderyni linen shirt in purple for the feast and clean leggings. He will then spend a long time doing his hair and goatee before joining the others to the festivities.

Algared returns to the Clan house and readies for the feast. Once washed, groomed and dressed in his best clothes with his jewellry attached he spends what time remains before the feast with his family.

Re: 3 Saraju 720
The warband leave the meadhall and notice that wind has picked up considerably as it blows in from the north, the sky is clearing quite quickly and the temperature remains cool but looks to cool off some more during the night.
Leaving the meadhall you can see several groups already on their way to the thranaal and another group just entering the gatehouse.
Climbing the rise to the thranaal you pass through the gatehouse and find the two sentries are not the normal huscarls tonight, two men stand guard protected by nothing more than helm and shield, they both are armed with swords and spears. (Algared and Barak recognise the men, they are both from a nearby thran although you are not able to remember their names), they both nod their heads in recognistion and allow you entry into the thranaal.
Making your way towards the greathall, the smell of cooking wafts about giving you a taste for the meal to come. Quite a few men stand about the door to the greathall all waiting for permission to enter. Serving staff move about the group offering ale to those who are thirsty. There are familiar faces among the attendants of the feast. As you approach the greathall you notice that those that have not dressed for the occassion now feel underdressed for such an event. Anyone who is anyone is here, you join the group and are quickly offered something to drink upon your arrival. Several of those standing near the door look at the less well dressed in your group and with a quick look at their clothing are not shy about showing their disgust.
You wait a short time before the chamberlain opens the greathall door and bids you enter, upon entering the hall, the hearth fire blazes casting a warmth over the hall, a multitude of lamps burn brightly around the hall allowing the familiar smell of burning whale oil to permeate through the hall. Benches have been place in U shape down the length of the hall, with Cunate's seat at the head of the table.
The hall quickly fills and the warband are able to find seating along the far wall about mid way along its length, the serving staff move quickly about the hall ensuring that everyone present has ale aplenty to drink. The warband notes that even Shella and Gelda have been recruited in to serve for the feast tonight (not uncommon for events such as this!).
With the hall filled to capacity the noise is loud as everyone talks to the person seated next them, the person across the table and even people across the hall, there is laughter and merriment as everyone settles in for the nights feast.
Giving everyone ample opportunity to settle in, Cunate finally makes his appearance, everyone stands as is the custom upon his entry into the hall and they remains standing until he has taken his seat at the head of the table, everyone resumes their seats once the Valhakar has been seated. His tankard is quickly filled and he soon joins everyone in the raucous banter about the hall.

Bjarni will glare at anyone who mocks his apparent poverty. His shirt and breeches, while washed, probably still have blood stains on them and unless someone else lent him a needle and thread in the days since the battle, will still have holes.

Barak will join Bjarni in staring back at anyone who sneers at him or his companions. Though he is wearing his best tunic and jewellery he knows his dress is not as fine or as clean as some here. 'Why should it be?' he thinks 'he is a honest man, making a honest living in the woods. He does not have mother or wife to look after his finery; nor does he profit unfairly from others in order to buy fancy clothes. Who do they think actually does the bulk of fighting to protect this jarldom? It is the poor, the farmers, fishermen, labourers and unguilded.'. He dosn't mind telling anyone his views if they make derogatory comments in his direction. Skorri had better not look down his nose at Barak...

Algared's best are certainly not as fine as some, nor does he have the assortment of jewellry others have. Algared will endeavor to make any and all welcome, looking down on none dressed less fine, he will ensure they have tankards of mead or ale saying drink. "Tonight we celebrate, the power of magik and the elemental". His efforts are aimed to smooth over those who feel slighted by those with greater wealth, he knows the war has been hard on many especially those whose clan houses were burned.

Meldun leans near the two larger men and smiles. "You know, many of the festivities at Bjarri's Feast involve combat, which has been known, at times, lead to fatalities." Leaning back and donning a far off stare, envisioning the Feast, "What a way to go, my friends... There's nothing like a feast fight"

Algared gives each of his companions who are spoiling for a fight an icy glare as he leans closer and says, "The three of you behave. They'll be plenty of time another day to celebrate a feast to Bjarri, or to fight our foes. I dont care how injuslted you feel by those who may have been looking down their noses at you.. we are each better off than those who lost clanhouses, their valhaker , brothers or fathers." Then looking at Bjarni Algared adds, "and less injured than you were this morning when you felt you couldn't engage in any physical activity." Turning his gaze back to include Barak and Meldun he then continues, "We are here at the Daas specific invitation. Do not bring dishonour to him, his guests or yourselves, just because you are wanting a bar brawl".

"I disagree Algared," Bjarni says. "A wise man once said that 'everyone's someone at home. Though he has two goats and a coarsely roofed house, that is better than begging'. I am the beggar here and am poorer than the poorest in this thran seeing I have no home, no kin and no clothes other than what I am wearing"
Bjarni will take a pull on his tankard and add, loudly, "and if any peacock with fine clothes and woman's hands doesn't like the way I am dressed he can kiss my Orbaalese arse."

There is ample time for the mead and ale to flow, before the food begins to appear, the first plates are delivered to Cunate and his head table, with the food soon arriving at the other nearby tables.
The first platters to arrive contain a variety of cheese and dried fruits, quickly followed by large bowls of a mutton pottage that is served steaming hot to those seated about the table. With Cunate having wasted no time to commence the meal everyone else is free to dig in as well. The serving staff contiune to move about the hall refilling empty jugs that litter the table allowing each individual the opportunity to fill his tankard as and when they need.
Even during the meal the atmosphere about the hall is loud with the noises of laughter and chatting with everyone seeming to be in good spirits.
One of the other guests overhears Bjarni's comment and says "I would expect such custom from the descendant of a outlaw! Do not disgrace your host by starting a fight within his hall with one of his guests!" you recognise this man as Turaas Daas a pottar from the thran and cousin to the Daas.
"Drink!" he calls "come lighten your mood you rascal" he says as he pours more mead into Bjarni's tankard.

Re: 3 Saraju 720
Despite the availability of ale and mead, Barak does his best to drink as lightly as possible, he wants to keep his wits about him. Nor does he refill Bjarni's cup, in fact he tries to inconspicuously ensure that the jugs are out of his reach.
To Turaas he says "I am sure my friend meant no discourtesy to Cunate's hospitality. He return to his fatherland to better himself, and instead finds us sorely oppressed and looses what little he had to begin with. Surely that is enough to sour the mood of any true-hearted Daas man. But our new ally changes everything. You join us both in drinking to 'Death to the Dagan'."
[OoC: Barak will not be breaching any etiquette, so if the toast is inappropriate please substitute some other similar action.]

Whilst trying to make others feel welcomed and at ease Algared also tries to limit his intake of mead and ale. When Barak raises his tankard Algared joins the toast, "To our newest ally, and death to the Dagan" he says.

Borygg joins in the toast and general merrymaking of the feast, but as usual doesn't overindulge in the mead or ale. He'll wander around the hall casually, trying to hear what people are saying about the "strange creature(?) in the river."
