23 - 26 Peonu 720
Over the next few days the warband are able to rest up, spend time with family and work at their trades.
The weather cools down over the next few days with intermitant rain late in the day on the 24th and 25th.
Kugald spends some time in the workshop working the forge, while doing so he has the time to adjust the chain shirt to Bjarni. It takes several fittings and has the apprentices working overtime producing the chain links but finally Kugald is able to hand the chain shirt over to Bjarni. Kugald also spends his remaining time in the smithy turning out a variety of weapons including arrow heads, axes, swords and several shield bosses.
Each day the warband are able to spend time in the meadhall to catch up with each other.

Froyaheim is in the hands of the enemy and the fate of Borygg's employer there, Lunt Storzar, is unknown. Furthermore, with Ygesdram about to be deeply involved in a war, now isn't the best time for Borygg to be concerned with setting up shop as a mercantyler. Instead, he'll spend these days practicing at arms with the others and wandering about, listening to people and learning what he can. He'll be looking for any commercial opportunities (even possibly shady ones)

Barak gets up early each morning to go hunting locally, trying to keep the local wood pigeons and hares under control. In the afternoon he practice bow and shortsword with Sigrun if she wants, otherwise he'll practice with the rest of the warband.
One morn he takes Eijryk out to find herbs in nearby field margins and woods.

Eijryk spends the days learning the town, talking to the people. He will possibly be extra fond of any nice-looking girl working at the market or in any of the shops and spend more time there talking to her.
One of the evenings he asks Barak when they meet at the meadhall if he can join him when he is going hunting the next morning. He wants to see if he can find any usable herbs.

When not attending to his normal duties over the next few days, Jurri will occupy himself with creating a copy of his latest works and securing it somewhere where it may escape destruction if things go very badly (buried, hidden in a hollow stump, stashed in a small cave, or whatever Neil thinks makes sense).
Otherwise, he'll turn up at the meadhall as needed to entertain.

When Bjarni sees the chain byrnie he will beam with pride and wear it constantly to show off. Chain shirt, a helm, spear and shield. He feels like a huscarle now so will spend his time flexing, practising with arms and trying to better the best this thran has to offer.
"My thanks Kugald. This is a princely gift and my thanks go to you. But, I suppose this is a bad time to tell you I was thinking of losing some weight."

Sigrun practices with Barak, keeps an eye on the Farvie to make sure it stays in good shape, and talks with any newcomers to glean information about the river and events to the east.

hhhmmm. Bjarni has been neglecting his duties to the Farvie. Seeing Sigrun fussing over the little craft, he will spend perhaps a little less time posing and a little more performing his shipboard duties as mate.

Algared spends his time in seclusion away from friends and family and is rarely seen over this time.
[OOC: Neil see the draft I have posted.]
As he studies Algared will take notes.

Over this period little is seen or heard of Algared, when asked his family say that he has his head in a book of some sort and has asked not to be disturbed, he eats rarely and seems so intent on his work that all other responsibilities around the thran have taken a back seat.
Barak spends his time between the fields and woods surrounding the thran and the meadhall. Barak notices that there is a dwindling number of game out in the wilds now, with a corresponding increase in the sign left by the hunters. On the third day Barak is able to return to the meadhall with two hares to help fill the pot. Otherwise Barak can be found at the meadhall working around the hall, chopping wood for the evening fire or the cooking fire, moving barrels of mead and ale around the cellar or upto the hall floor. He is often seen stealing a moment with the serving girl Gelda too. Each day Barak manages to find a little time to train with Sigrun in the use of the bow.
Borygg spends this time trying to arrange possible contacts to establish a trading post here. In his wanderings Borygg finds out that Lunt Storzar is in fact alive and well. He fled along with the rest of the Storzar clan and arrived in Ygesdram, he has since departed again but no one can say where he went or for what purpose. Putting some feelers out you discover that most 'honest' trades have taken a back seat to the war, hunters and trappers are reporting a significant drop in the amount of game out in the woods. The number of items being produced has dropped as men that would normally produce them are now off defending the homeland and those consumables are being gobbled up quicker than they can be produced as clans stock for the coming fight.
Bjarni spends his time strutting around the thran until during the first day he while wandering around the docks he catches sight of Sigrun working aboard the 'Farvie' suddenly he realises that as first mate there are things he needs to learn and joins Sigrun aboard the boat carrying out some regular maintenance, including the re-tarring of some of the boats lines and re-greasing of the boats pulleys and tackle. During the evenings he can be found at the meadhall drinking, eating and cavorting around. The locals of the thran soon learn not to try to best him in games of strenght as Bjarni soon builds a reputation as an ox of a man and his nickname certainly deters many possible contenders. It is on the third day that he found aboard the boat by Kugald and gifted the chain shirt.
Eirjyk spends the days wandering around the thran, learning its layout and getting to know some of the tradesmen and more prominent members of the thran. On the second day he accompanies Barak out into the fields and woods around the thran. His lack of any semblance of hunting skill means that what lack of quarry there is are scared off long before Barak is able to make a meal of them. While wandering around the thran alone on the other days you discover that the market only opens on the 10th, 20th and 30th days of the month, this allows merchants from other thrans to attend and if you should need anything during these other times most tradesmen sell to the public directly from their workshops. The girls you are able to chat with seem amiable enough but none seem to take you to seriously and when they meet you again their attitude to you seems more distant than seems normal. This is a growing feeling you notice over the next four days. The locals seem to be less interested in you while you are alone, while you are with Barak, Kugald, Borygg or Jurri you are treated fairly but while out by yourself you are mostly ignored while some seem to give you a short greeting without much sincerity.
Jurri like Algared has become a recluse, not by choice, he has been tasked by the Daas to perform during the evenings for him and his retainers. During the daylight hours, however, Jurri spends his time adding to his compositions and practicing with his instruments (I mean that in the nicest possible way ) and rehearsing for his performances in the coming evenings. Jurri is able to catch up with his companions during the day or early evenings to have a quick chat keep up with local gossip.
Kugald spends his days back in the workshop. He drives the apprentices mad with his calls for more rings for the chain shirt as he madly adds ring after ring to the shirt before finally he holds up the metal 'tent' with a smile, throws the shirt over his shoulder and heads down to the docks to find Bjarni. Handing over the chain shirt he returns to the workshop to continue his work repairing weapons and churning out new ones. In the evenings like his companions he can be found in the meadhall sharing an ale, a meal and a story.
Sigrun spends hers days aboard the 'Farvie' going over Algared's notes on the stocks held aboard the vessel. Sigrun helps Bjarni with some of the maintenance tasks although she avoids getting her hands dirty where possible (her old master always told her - a good pilot keeps their hands clean). In the evenings Sigrun joins her companions in the meadhall to catch up, share an ale, a meal and a song or two. While wandering around the docks Sigrun keeps an eye and an ear out for any news. Sigrun notes that there is still no river traffic from the east (hardly surprising really)
Nothing has been seen of Zeoul for the last few days either apart from the evening get togethers. He says little of his days work and quietly sits with his companions, he shares a drink and a meal but does not join in with the other revelries.
On the 25th a boat arrives. Those near the docks notice about 30 men disembark, they carry spears, shields, bows and a variety of axes and swords. They are all dressed in linen and wool clothing and all where a helmet of some type, most where kurbul while others where a plate helm, one has a full plate helmet hanging from his belt. One thing that sets these men apart though is the white sheet that they wear, emblazoned on the front and back is a black crow. The bird faces the left as if sitting upon a branch.
They disembark and gather around the dock, they do not talk with anyone until their gear is unloaded where upon one of the men breaks free from the group and converses with one of the fisherman (you find out that the man spoke Ivinian with a strange accent and asked where the Jarl might be found), he points towards the thranhold and the group form up into two files and march towards the thranhold. There is a pause while they wait outside the gatehouse but they are quickly admitted inside the thranhold.
You find out that these men are mercenaries and are here to fight against Ibanvaal, if the negoitatons go well that is. By the next day the men are being accomodated within the greathall - it would seem a deal has been struck.
