"What are we doing here? What are you doing here? We thought something befell you when you didn't return to the thran. We came down here to make sure everything was alright. So is everything alright?"

[Bjarni Daasen]

"Everything is fine. it is good to know you were worried about me. I am waiting to hear from the valhakar on a bride price for Suri. Sit yourselves down, looks like Bjas will have a few more guests tonight."

[Svardkell Holg]

Svardkell seems relieved as he claps the big man on the shoulder.

"Would we be intruding? We can just as easily leave now if we are infringing on the man's hospitality?

[GM]

A man wearing a leather apron appears through a door at the back of the hall. A smile beaming across his face "Well met, travellers!" he calls as he approaches. Then looking at Bjarni he says "are these your companions".

"Can I fetch you something to wash down the dust with?"

[Bryndis Serewyn]

"Well, I guess that answers that", Bryndis will say with a laugh as she sits across from Bjarni.

[Yep, Bryndis is here. She just hasn't had anything to say because you guys keep saying it first ]

[Barak Daas]

"Have you ever heard of sending a messenger to say where you are?" Says Barak as he sits down "I reckon you owe us all at least an ale."

[Bjarni Daasen]

"Sorry Barak. You worry about me more than my mother does. I didn't think you would all miss me so much" Bjarni will order ales all around.

[Svardkell Holg]

"You are quite literally a hard person to miss my friend."

[Bjarni Daasen]

"Well I suppose you want to know what has transpired. Well I have offered a brideprice. I think I may have insulted them by offering a small amount, but weighed against that is the fact that I am from a great clan that holds considerable lands, and Suri is, well, from around these parts. No offence Barak and Borygg."

[Svardkell Holg]

"When will they come to a decision? What does Suri think about your potential marriage?"

[Barak Daas]

"Suri is from Menglana, the overlords of the lands claimed by the Daasen. But that said these are desperate times. A husband is a husband, and one that offers money is doubly welcome. If you really have insulted the Valhakar it may be time for a strategic withdrawal. Even the brown bear will give up its catch if surrounded by wolves."

[OoC: What time of day is it? Is there still time to get back to Ygredram at a reasonable time - time to get some food at the meadhall before bed?]

[GM]

It is late afternoon. The return trip would see you arrive in Ygesdram towards the end of the 5th watch perhaps later...

[Bjarni Daasen]

"I think that they will seriously consider my offer. The valhakar is valhakar in name only until confirmed by his clan thrangaard. That is causing some delay as well. Bjas does a passable ale so the night wont be wasted here. Seeing you lot wont hurt either."

[Barak Daas]

"Yes, spending the night here makes sense. Not that we have much choice, given the time; you'll either have to love us, or lump us."

[GM]

The innkeeper watches you as Bryndis sits and Barak declares that it seems you will be staying to ask once again "So shall I bring you all something to drink" he says raising his shoulders "As you friend says I have a passable ale" he says almost sad "or perhaps you might prefer a pear cider or would a honey mead be more to your taste?"

[Borygg Raal]

Borygg has a seat at Bjarni's table, then orders some cider and something to eat.

[Bjarni Daasen]

"Bjas - you may as well keep them coming," Bjarni says and pulls out a handful of coins which he puts into Bjas's hand. "So, what news from Ygesdram and the preparations to leave?"

[GM]

The innkeeper waits till he has everyone's order he turns and leaves you alone, he returns quickly to the hall and begins lighting several more lamps that hang from the ceiling. A plump woman enters the hall carrying a large tray upon which are the drinks that have been ordered. "Here we go" she says as she slides the tray onto the table, before removing the tankards from the tray she calls out each drink to see who ordered which drink and places it upon the table in front of each of you.

The woman then leaves the hall but returns shortly carrying another tray. She places the tray on the table and says "Evening meal is not ready yet but this should keep the wolves from the door until then" upon the tray are thin slices of cheese, oatcakes and a bowl of dried pears.

The woman then moves towards the innkeeper and whispers in his ear, the man nods his head before the woman disappears from the hall through the rear door.

[Bjarni Daasen]

"See, all the comforts of home."

[Bryndis Serewyn]

Bryndis would have ordered a pear cider.

"No news really, just lots of waiting... for me at least," Bryndis will say with a smile and a wink.
"That's why I tagged along to see how you were faring. Good exercise, at least, and an ale to boot."

[Barak Daas]

Bark sips his perry and nibbles some of the oatcakes and cheese.

He is still not convinced that everything is on the level and will keep a cautious watch of what of what is going on around him.

After the snack and before the evening meal is due, Barak takes a stroll round the thran and attempts to talk to as many people as possible (the weather, the crops, the war or any other conversation starters). What is the general air of the place?

[GM]

Barak drinks his perry and watches about him, the hall is empty except for your warband, with the innkeeper or his wife making a brief appearance to attend to business about the hall, ensuring there is enough wood for the fire, checking to see if the warband need anything else to drink or just going about their business. By the look of the hall it would seem that it has been some time since the hall last had paying customers.

Draining the last of his tankards contents Barak stands and throwing his cloak about his shoulders he heads outside the hall...

[Barak Daas]

... Later Barak returns and says: "Am I in time for some food then? I am famished."

[GM]

Barak returns to the hall to find his companions still gathered about the fire chatting. Taking a place by the fire he rejoins the warband.

It is a little while later that the innkeepers wife reappears along with two serving girls, all are carrying trays with what must be your evening meal.

The first girl places a plate in front of each warrior, the second girl following behind places a large loaf of bread upon the plate, she tears out the top of the loaf where upon the innkeepers wife ladels a thick pottage into the top of each loaf. Chucks of pork and mutton can be seen in the stew along with a generous serve of vegetables.

With the meal served the women leave the hall only to reappear bearing several tankards of ale which they place upon the table before once again leaving. They reappear quickly bearing trays of cheese, dried fruits and fresh berries. Placing these trays upon the table the two serving girls quickly leave, the innkeepers wife asks "Is there anything else you would like?"

[Bjarni Daasen]

"Yes, I would have liked to have the scot sent to Cunate Daas, but in this case I have already paid."
