Re: 29 Saraju 720
Bjarni will tell Barak and Svardkell that he would like them up the back in the first oar benches in front of the steering board. The others of our group a few rows in front of them. Algared needs to keep his hands free in case we need to throw a water monster at the enemy.
Does the ship have a single sail? Is there a spare we can rig for a canopy if required?
Post by GM There is a single sail furled atop the masthead, a second sail can be found among the spares for the ship along with several timbers and canvas that can be rigged to provide shelter from the elements

The crew begin to arrive piecemeal during the course of the day. By late afternoon all the crew are aboard and have offered introductions to the new comers aboard. The crew mill about the boat until one of the sailors aboard asks Bjarni "Do we take our usual positions or would you prefer to rearrange the seating?"

"Right lads. I am Bjarni Daasen from Orbaal. We will get to know each other over the next few days while we wait for orders from Lord Cunate. I suspect we will not be resting for long. As to who sits where, Svardkell and Barak here will be down here (points to the oar benches closest to the stern) and the rest of you will shuffle forward and the new crew can fit in where they can. Now, I want to talk with the Pilot and will let you all get to know one another."

As the crew begins to disperse, you get a glimpse of the pecking order onboard as the more senior sailors claim their oars before the more junior among the crew. A man in his early thirties steps forward "I am the boats pilot" he introduces himself Beregaar of clan Niltsen.

Bjarni will clasp his arm and acknowledge him. "Come sit with me. Cunate gave me this rutter. We can have a look at it together."

Beregaar's eyes open as you produce your rutter. You both move towards the stern of the boat under the canvas shelter and slowly turn the pages of the book.
Beregaar asks if he might make a copy of some of the pages for his own rutter.

"Aye. My knowledge of piloting is adequate and I am a fair dead-reckoning sailor but I ma glad Cunate has a good man on this boat."

The older man smiles and says "I have sailed my way a fair few times through these waters, there are few who can match me in the waters east of Vulenheim"

"I find these fjords close in on me. Give me the whale road any day. How does she run with a good wind?"

Re: 29 Saraju 720
It seems that the crew have heard of all of you, your warband has had stories told of its achievements during the war with Ibanvaal. In addition Borygg is also remembered for killing Dern the longshorman during the games earlier this month.
During the late afternoon a heavy wind blows chopping up the water a little. The unpleasant sea conditions and the boat remaining stationary on the water makes conditions upon the boat poor and three of the crew look a little under the weather, but the regain their composure once the wind dies down. The weather lasts for a little more than half a watch before conditions once again settle, but a light fog begins to drift in from the south east.
With the end of the day the crew settle aboard and begin to set a watch of 3 men per watch keeping an eye for danger. It would seem the crew is well versed in keeping a boat at sea. Meanwhile the remainder of the crew take refuge under the canvas shelter and find sleep as best they can.
The fog reduces visibility only a little but it lingers well into the night.
