Re: 30 Peonu 720
Barak waits for Bryndris, Bjorn and Meldrin to catchup before heading off towards the knot of people who appear to be applying first aid. They all look like they could do with a bandage or two in his opinion. He says to Ranaar, whilst he is waiting, "I don't think you'll loose out on the loot. I don't think these men expected to go home, and hence they will have left their wealth with their loved ones in case they did not return. I wonder why they were willing to sacrifice themselves, surely not just for glory in battle."

Seeing that Daas warriors have now been sent after the retreating invaders, Sigrun will get her bag and Algared's staff sling from the tree and then head down to find her companions.
"Barak, I don't think these were Ibanvaalers, but were men captured from places I know to the east," Sigrun goes quiet for a moment, then raises her head and looks around. If she can recall where Algared and Bjarni fell, she'll point them out so they can be tended to. Looking north through the smoke she whispers, "I better go see if anything can be salvaged from the docks."

Re: 30 Peonu 720
Now that things have settled down after the battle each of you are able to take stock in the surroundings. Of the initial one hundred and twenty or so Daas warriors there seem to be about sixty still standing, thirty of these are now being lead eastward by Thaldirs. Bodies and equipment litter the battlefield, the cries of the wounded still ring out disturbing the quiet of the thran.
The thran gates slowly open and clan members pause a the top of the rise to survey the scene, led by a further forty warriors, family members begin to descend the hill, walking at first but running by the time they are at the bottom, the mad search for clansmen begins, you can heard cries of joy as loved ones are reunited mixed with the cries of grief as family members find the bodies of the fallen.
Looking about the battlefield the clean up will take some time. Eijryk kneeling by the wounded warrior assesses his wounds and decides that it will take some time to treat his wounds and that time might best be spent commandeering the meadhall as a makeshift sickroom. Eijryk gathers his belongings and makes his way to the meadhall, where he organises some benches and lays out the tools of his trade. It is not long before Shella and Gelda are bringing in water and assisting Eijryk with his treatment.
Word quickly passes around the thran that a sickroom has been setup in the meadhall and as the clean up of the battlefield progresses it is not long before Algared having been found is taken back to his clanhouse by his family, his family having found him on the battlefield. Bjarni is found and taken to the meadhall because there are no clan members to treat him or offer him shelter. Many of the wounded are carried away by family members to be treated at home (the physician can visit as and when he is needed).
Word also passes around the thran that Hervold Jela lays at home having been seriously wounded, Ulauf Nildrom lays dead not far from his clanhouse, Jorri Daas the thrans weaponcrafter is also amongst the dead, two huscarls are also dead with several huscarls badly wounded including Sweld Storzar the son of Erling Storzar.

To sidle back in time...
And to zoom back to current time...
Barak returns to the meadhall and assists where he can with Cunate's warriors. He does not help the raiders, should any be here. He looks around for Jabor, is he here or is he among the fallen?
Post by GM Jabor is now off and part of the thirty warriors attempting to push the Ibanvaalers away from Ygesdram
"That would make sense" responds Barak "I thought they might be mercenaries or allied clans from Altlund or some such. The Dagan can always say he kept the truce and he is not responsible for these dead men here."Sigrun Surenaal wrote:"Barak, I don't think these were Ibanvaalers, but were men captured from places I know to the east."

Bryndis returns to the meadhall, where she will attempt to tend to her own wounds.
If her wounds/bloodloss are not too severe, she will assist where she can with the injured.
Post by GM Finding a bench the shieldmaiden sits down and notices a 4" cut through the leather of her left boot and the leg of her leggings. After casting a physcians eye over her wounds decides that the wound to her left calf is the more serious tends to it first. Then Bryn goes on to treat all but the wound to her neck. By this time she has used nearly half of her clean bandaging material. Bryn is unable to treat the wound to her neck as she is unable to see it and is therefore not able to clean and dress properly.
After getting the wound to her neck treated, she attempts to rise and give aid where she can, but her movements are slow and akward and she is told to sit and rest.

Once Algared awakens and is over any effects of shock, he asks for a bowl of water and begins casting 'Azure hand', casting the spell on the already treated minor wounds he is able to reach. He will ensure his bowl amulet is with him and use visible gestures and an audible voice as he carries out the cant (ie maximum bonuses he is able to generate). He will then if he is able seek out his companions, and offer assistance in caring for the wounded.
[was Skorri Daas amongst those fighting was he injured.]
Post by GM Algared regains conciousness and finds himself wrapped warmly in his own bed. He is weak and in shock but is being tended by his mother and sister. His wounds have been clean and dressed, his torso a mass of bandages along with his right leg which is bandaged on his thigh and his calf. The last bandage covers the wound to his right shoulder.
Word goes about of Skorri being found in the bonding house, the door firmly locked till after the battle was over. There was no sign of any fighting haven taken place around the bonding house. But Skorri is adament that he was defending the wares of the whole thran with spear and shield. Although those that found him claim there was neither spear, shield or helm to be found anywhere.

Meldun will walk with Bryndis to the mead hall for first aid. Along the way, he will check for any axes that are better quality than his current axe, as well as any other armor upgrades he can find for himself, Bryndis, and Bjorn. Once Bryndis is taken care of, and his own wound cared for, he will seek out Bjarri Orbaason, and set about funeral arrangements for the Daas' men, as well as the Ibanvaaler invaders.
While outside looking for Bjarri, Meldun watches the families hauling their wounded and dead family members to their respective homes. His normal happy-go-lucky demeanor replaced with a stoic face. While he is always happy to honor the passage of a soul to Talagaad, the mourning of those left behind pulls at his heart.
Post by GM A few axes are seen on the way to the meadhall, one it's shaft broken is obviously not taken, there are several others seen but none to be of any higher quality than the one you currently carry. You are able to find a plate half helm that looks to fit Bjorn, otherwise there seems to be anything of use amongst the refuse from the battle.
Meldun takes a look at his wound, first lifting up his tunic, he pokes the wound and grimaces at the discomfort, removing his tunic, he gathers some bandages and water and decides that Eijryk has his hands full already and so treats the wound himself. After a while Meldun seems satisfied that the wound has been cleaned he places a dressing over the wound, wrapping it firmly around his stomach. Finished he stands and dons his tunic again.
After a brief search for Bjarri Orbaason, Meldun is informed that Bjarri has been taken to his clanhouse. Worried Meldun makes his best speed up to the clanhouse where he finds the priest being treated by his family for several wounds he has suffered during the fighting. Neither wound looks serious and Bjarri discusses the arrangements of the burials with you.

Bjarni regains concioucness and finds himself wrapped in his own bedding laid upon a pallet on the meadhalls floor. His wounds have been clean and dressed, he is still in shock and is too weak to lift his head. He notices that the hall is a busy place right now as the more seriously wounded are being brought in to be treated. The wound to his chest and hip are still sore and hurt when he moves, while the wound to his knee now treated seems to be better, although there is still some pain when he moves the limb.

Barak is intrigued by the story of Skorri and tries to see if he find any first hand witnesses to Skorri's "discovery". He also goes and checks out the warehouse for damage (e.g. axe cuts in the door). What is the construction of the place - stone walls with a flagstone roof, wattle and daub with thatch, etc?
Post by GM The bonding house like most of the buildings in the than, timber walls with stone footings and a thatch roof. Initailly you move from person to person based on the line "Well I wasn't there but I heard that...." until you are finally able to track down Bjun Daas, the son of Roldin Daas (the thrans beekeeper) who is able to tell you that when the Ibanvaalers fled he and three others went to check that there was no fire at the bonding house. The door was locked but was opened by Skorri when he recongnised the voices of Daas men outside. "He did look relieved to see us" adds Bjun.
Unlocking the door Skorri exited the building, locking the door behind him. Before speaking with Bjun and the others.
Casting a keen eye over the door there looks to be two identifiable axe strikes against the door that you can identify.

Eijryk spends the whole day in the meadhall treating the wounded and organizing the maids and others willing to assist him. He asks someone to go to Hervold's workshop and see if they can bring some of his herbs.
When he sees Bjarni he immediately moves to take care of his wounds. When the Orbaalese giant wakes up he says "I thought we had lost you there for a while Sperm Whale. You need to rest now but those Ibanvaalers have not seen the last of you in the battlefield." He adds with a smile "You fought very well today, even if it was on land."
He also stops by to have a look at Bryndis and Meldun's wounds and takes care of them if they need to.
When the status finally seem to be stable of those lying in the meadhall he will head over to Algared's clanhouse to see how is is doing. He will also do checks with anyone else that might have requested a visit from him.
He will just drink a mouthful of water once in a while all through this work and stop to eat only when everyone seems to have received treatment.
Post by GM Once the sickroom is set up, herbs and medicines are brought down from the Jela clanhouse, over the rest of the day and well into the night working under the lights of a couple of lamps, Eijryk soughts through the casualties, 12 dead, 15 others with grievous wounds (of which there were several amputations) and 22 others with multiple serious wounds that required treatment from Eijryk and his tools. It is not until the very late hours of the night that Eijryk is able to finally rest.
Reasoning that if Algared was in need of his help his clan would have called for him, his other companions are about their own tasks or are too wounded and Eijryk has little time to find them and treat them either. Eijryk exhausted from not only the battle but the treating of the wounded as well. Eirjyk stops to take a break but collapses into a deep sleep

Bjarni lifts his head, as much as he can, when he recognises Eijryk. Indicating his wounds he says "You should see the other warrior." He starts to laugh at his own joke but it turns into a grimace as pain courses through him. "I got three, but that last one had a few moves of his own. Look Eijryk, do you know of the Nildrom clan at the slipway? Did they make it. Their house and yard was on fire."
Post by GM What Bjarni intends to say appears little more than random mumblings to Eijryk as the huge warrior suffers the effects of shock, his laugh quickly turns into a cough and Eirjyk tells you to keep your tongue and save your strength you have another battle to fight and you will need your strength to win it

By late evening the fires have burnt down, the battlefield has been cleared of the bodies and the discarded equipment of the incapacitated warriors. The Kelsi clanhouse is burnt to the ground, as are the surrounding outhouses, as are several of the out buildings of Jersi Daas, Ulauf Nildrom's clanhouse is also burnt to the ground along with the out buildings and the slipway.
Both the warboats are severely damaged and will require many, many, many hours of work not to mention the necessary tools and workspaces which are now lying smouldering on the ground.
The only remains of the 'Farvie' are the few timbers that were out of the water, the bulwarks are burnt beyond recognition, the mast has burnt through at the base, the rigging has been burnt causing more damage to the hull and what remains of the ships timbers is now under the water.

Bjorn wades slowly through the carnage of the battlefield, grimacing at the sight and the smells. He follows Barak to the meadhall, and checks to make sure all his gear is still stowed safely and intact. Then he strips off the bulk of armor: hide, leather, and kurbal, and lays the pieces out with the rest of his gear to be mended later.
Finding a seat proves to be difficult as more and more people pour into the establishment. Finally he simply pulls up his seachest and plops down on it. Grimacing in pain, he remembers his wounds, and begins to inspect them. Having no skill whatsover with such things, he starts by cleaning out the wounds with water and a clean cloth. Then not sure what else to do, he grabs a stick and begins prodding at them.
Post by GM After prodding the wound with the stick, pain shoots up from the wound, you have learnt your first lesson in first aid You quickly stop prodding with a stick and bind the wound.
You can now go and open the physician skill with an OMLx1

What is the mood amongst the people Barak talks to? Is Skorri the hero for single handedly defending his property from the raiders; or is he a coward for caring more about his money that protecting the thran?GM wrote:... from person to person based on the line "Well I wasn't there but I heard that...."
Do the axe blows to the door look like a serious attempt to get in? Does the thatch anywhere look scorched?
Post by GM There are a few around the thran that think Skorri was acting with courage defending the bonding house, but most tend to think that he was acting in his usual behaviour. There is not a high opinion of Skorri anyway and one single act is not going to redefine their thoughts on him.
The two axe blows do look like attempts to get in and there are no attempts to fire the building

With the wounded treated and taken to clanhouses, Eijryk is now finally able to rest. Meldun having taken a moment of solace in the temple, Algared, Bryn and Bjarni resting from their wounds. Algared and Bjarni are both still suffering the effects of shock and despite their best efforts to speak they appear nothing more than ramblings and mutterings and fade into out of sleep during the rest of the day. Sigrun is able to retrieve her sea chest, the lid is severely charred and is burnt through along the left side, 3 of the 4 sides have also been burnt through, only the front remains intact. Some of the contents are ruined and everything is soaked.
Bjorn and Borygg spend the rest of the afternoon removing the debris from the battlefield, so by late afternoon exhausted they retire to the meadhall to collapse but find Eijryk still at work tending the wounded, so they decide to lend a hand fetching fresh water and bandages to aiding the wounded being carried in and out. Till late that night with Eijryk's work done they too collapse.
Barak spends the afternoon chasing down information regarding Skorri and his defence of the bonding house.
Late in the afternoon word starts to pass through the thran that the thran of Abderheim is now beseiged. A runner having arrived late in the afternoon bearing the news to Cunate Daas. While the warboats were attacking Ygesdram, the Dagen marched several thousand warriors across the river and quickly defeated the Daas men in open battle, those that survived retired into the thranaal and are now besieged by the Dagen.
