Eijryk will use his spear to attack enemies in the flank when he sees his friends or other Daas warriors nearby getting in trouble. He will try to stay a few steps behind the battleline though and be ready to help any wounded away from the main fray.

Meldun will quickly grab his bag from his chest and secure it to his back. From there, he will nod at Barak, showing he is ready, and will follow him out to the nearest fight.

Bryndis will wait outside the meadhall while the others go inside. Scanning the battle before her, she realizes that she cannot tell invader from Daas. She can recognize the berzerkers where they are in the battle, but other than those she'll have to trust Barak to guide her towards the enemy. Should they get split up, she'll have to fall back to Cunate Daas or Algared, if she can reach him.
With her mind set on the necessary course, she will anxiously await Barak. If he is not soon forthcoming though, she will make towards the Valhakar.

Sigrun moves close to Eijryk for a moment, points to the cliff face, and yells over the din, "I'm going to get up there so we can see. Try to relay information if you can." She moves off before he can respond.
Sigrun will run (she is quite fast) back from the line, around the cliff face, and up the back side of the eastern hill. When she gets near the top (where it looks one huge tree on the map), she'll slow and and hunch down while still advancing. The goal is to gain as a broad a view of the thran, the boats, and the river as possible.

Barak disappears inside for a brief moment before reappearing. He waits until Meldun, Bryndis and Bjorn are ready: "We need to keep together. If you are not sure who is a friend or foe, kill those that attack you. If I should fall then retreat back to the huscarls behind us - they will direct you. We will try to stop the raiders get further up the hill. But if we are outnumbered or badly injured we fall back. No one is to waste their life." He points at a small clump of Ibanvaalers "Those look a likely target - follow me".Bryndis Serewyn wrote:With her mind set on the necessary course, she will anxiously await Barak.

Bjarni pants, at looks around. If noone is directly attacking him and he has even the briefest moment he will rifle the corpse of the man he killed looking specifically for his purse. I am assuming it is around his neck on a thong. He will take a look around to see how his comrades are faring, and assist them if necessary. He is looking for a rich warrior to take on.

Re: 30 Peonu 720
The Ibavaalers continue to push forward driving the Daas line back. Warriors from both side exchange blows as each seek advantage over their opponents. No sooner have the warband entered the fray than they become seperated as each of them defend against their attackers turning left and right as they move for an advantage over their opponent.
Algared strikes at his opponent but his spear point is easily deflected by his opponents shield, an evil smile flashes across the mans face "Market not today!" the man says with a strong accent. The warrior sensing an opportunity thrust against Algared's chest but Algared is able to deflect the blow with his shield. A Daas warrior falls to the ground near you a spear thrusting from his chest, his opponent apparently not able to hold on the weapon when the man fell.
Barak calling his comrades forward Barak leaps the small wicker fence around the Grebel clanhouse, already smoke begins to rise from some of the outbuildings. A dog runs about the yard in a panic, a second runs around in small circles chasing it's tail while a third lays dead near the clanhouse itself. Entering the fight Barak catches an Ibanvaaler unaware, thrusting his spear towards the Ibanvaaler, the spear point strikes the man just under the armpit, the point bites deeply into the mans chest and he collapses to the ground a trickle of frothy blood running from his mouth.
Bjarni having downed his opponent stops to search his body, keeping one eye on the fight about him and the other on the fallen warrior he fails to notice a warrior approaching from behind his left shoulder, suddenly a stabbing pain shoots up from his left hip, a flash of white light appears before his eyes, nearly stubbling from the blow Bjarni quickly gathers his feet, despite the pain in his left hip. Without time to look at the wound you can tell that it is serious the pain and the trickle of blood running down your leg are clear indicators.
Bjorn following Barak leaps the small fence and while not sure who your attackers are, you are set upon by a warrior "Daas scum!" the men yells giving a clear indication that he is not from around here. The attack nearly takes you by surprise but you are able to block his attack and return an attack of your own. Swinging your axe one handed your axe cuts through the air but your opponent is up to the task and blocks the strike with his shield, it is a deft blow and your axe bites deeply into his shield.
Borygg turning to his left against the axe wielding warrior quickly defends himself with his shield against his opponents attack. Borygg returns with an attack of his own, thrusting his spear forward he catches his opponent in the right shoulder with his spear point, Borygg is able to tell that the strike was not effective, the mans armour taking most of the force of the strike.
Byrndis like her companions follows Barak into the fight, she does not make the fence before an Ibavaal warrior moves to attack her, the man dressed in a mail byrnie and plate helm smiles at her as he strikes for her with his sword "A pretty warbride you'll be" he says with a strong accent. The sword cuts through the air and Bryn turns the attack away with her shield, the block was awkward though and the shield takes some damage from the strike. Turning to her right she launches an attack of her own but the attack is turned away by her opponents shield.
Eijryk standing to the rear of the warband keeps an eye on his companions flanks, from where he stands it seems that most of the Ibanvaalers are already engaged and so with spear in hand he continues his vigil.
Just off Barak's left shoulder is Meldun as he moves forward to engage the enemy. Climbing over the fence Meldun stumbles and falls to his knees as his shield breaks his fall, his axe falls from his hand as he tries to break his fall. An Ibanvaaler seeing Meldun defenceless launches an attack on the helpless priest. Thrusting his spear at the kneeling priest the spear point bites deeply into the ground just under Meldun's chest.
Sigrun begins her run up the hill to the east.
While the fighting continues you notice Thaldirs moving the reserve to the left flanks sensing that the line might be enveloped there.....

Cursing his luck for falling in combat, Meldun mutters under his breath, "Bronwyne, be with me now." Meldun will reach for his axe and attempt to safely regain his feet.
Mustering all of his might, he glares at his combatant, trying to keep his eyes locked with his own while he rises. With a smirk on his face, he taunts his adversary, "Tonight, Talagaad welcomes many to it's feast. When I get there, I expect a full report from you on the best meads and meats."

Sensing that his companions have not been as lucky as he, Barak carefully backs up towards them, letting his next opponent come to him. If one does not follow, he'll take the opportunity to strike at Meldun's foe.
If he can hear the attacker's accent, does it sound Ibanvaal, or is it from further afield?
If the group - he, Meldun, Bryndis and Bjorn - start to get separated he will shout out "to me" and hope it is they who respond and not the enemy.

Algared concentrates on denfence and having lost sight of Bjarrni and Borryg he will call out, "Dasslund! Menglana!", hoping to give a rally point and help solidify the line as held by the small clumps of defenders in the swirling mass. "If we can hold this ground", Algared thinks to himself, "our numbers will tell in the end."

Bjorn will attempt to keep a close eye on Meldun, if he struggles, or fails to gain his feet, he will immediately close on his position and attack his opponent.
With the sound of battle raging all around him, the large trapper glares at his foe, while keeping a watchful eye on Meldun. Growling, he tightens his grip on his battleaxe and raises it for another blow, attempting to strike low at the man's legs.

Bjarni roars in pain and surprise as he surges to his feet. Having been attacked from the left, he fully expects another blow to come from that quarter so he will try to knock aside the foes blade with his shield and grapple him, and head butt him into the next ten-day. If he is knocked senseless Bjarni will then lift him up and throw him at the nearest group of enemy. If not he will drop him and smash his shield rim into the man's neck.
Then, and only then he will clamp a hand to his wound and curse himself for a silver loving fool and retrieve his haakapik and try to judge if he can walk or run and tries to orientate himself. Where are Algared and his comrades?

Bryndis will continue blocking with her shield until it is useless. She’ll press her attack with her broadsword, hoping for an opening. She remains very focused on her attacker... she does not intend to become a warbride.
When her shield is useless, she’ll drop it and switch her broadsword to her off-hand, drawing her battleaxe.
(At least until fatigue or injury requires her to be more cautious.)

The Ibavaalers continue to push forward driving the defenders back. The noise and the confusion of the fight makes working together difficult as a simple turn in one direction to aid your defence can put you out of contact with your comrades at least for a short time. The battle swirls around you as friend and foe alike move about the field in search of opponents or are fighting resolutely to defend themselves. The flash of spear points, axe heads and swords blades is a blur the noise makes communication at anything over about 10' difficult and your yelling is nearly drowned out by the clash of weapons against shields, other weapons and the sickly sound of a successful strike. The battle cries can be heard all over the field as can be heard the men cursing each other, the moans of the wounded and men calling to friends and allies to rally and hold on.....
Algared amongst the melee with his companions no where to be seen Algared calls "Dasslund! Menglana!" in the hope of bringing his comrades into the fold. The only attention that anyone seems to give you is an Ibanvaal warrior some 20' distant but wears only leather leggings, his body covered in the blood of his previous victims, a thick black, blood soaked beard hangs from his chin, a Daas warrior lies at his feet with his stomach opened from hip to hip, he charges towards you like a man possessed, a sword in his right hand and an axe in his left.
Now fighting two opponents Algared prepares to defend himself, his first attacker thrusts wildly with his spear and Algared is easily able to defend the blow, the second attacker a look of frenzy in his eyes swings at you with his sword and there is a resounding crash as the metal rim of your shield buckles under the blow and the wood beneath splinters (with just a quick inspection it looks like your shield will still function at least for now) circling between your two attackers you find an opportunity to launch an attack of your own against the first attacker but the attack is blocked by his shield.
The accent you hear is hard to place but it is not from any of the nearby greatclans holdings. The Ibavaalers continue to push forward driving you back against the fence an Ibavaaler moves against you, he looks young and his beard is not yet of a full lenght, he wears a mail byrnie and carries a roundshield in his left hand and an axe in his right, launching an attack against him he turns your spear point away with his shield, Barak takes a split second to search for his companions and notices that Bryn is becoming seperated as she dances with her opponent. Barak calls "to me" and hopes that his voice is heard above the fighting. Baraks opponent sensing that Barak is preoccupied launches a flurry of strikes against him his axe head flashes like lightening but Barak is able to defend himself against the attack.
Bjarni turns quickly on his attacker and using his shield he tries to push away the attackers spear but his opponent avoids the sweeping spear. Bjarni now on his feet launches himself at his opponent and tries to wrestle him to the ground, the Ibanvaaler tries to put his shield between him and Bjarni, but the huge man engulfs both the attacker and his shield, but as Bjarni turns to throw the Ibanvaaler he places to much weight on his injured hip and looses his footing slightly, enough for his opponent to slip free. Bjarni now stands some 5' from his discarded shield (it was discarded as part of your grapple action - you cannot wrestle someone with a shield in your hand), but he still holds his haakapik in his right hand.
Taken back by your initial attack Bjorns opponent retreats a few steps, giving up some ground while searching for an opportunity to launch another attack. Bjorn takes this move as weakness and follows, swinging his axe above his head his blow lands upon the helmeted head of his opponents, the man seems stunned by the blow and Bjorn follows up with another swipe this time using a backhanded blow that catches his opponent in the right arm the mans body rocks fromt the blow but he still stands. The Ibanvaaler seems to regain his senses and launches an attack upon Bjorn, your shield again takes the brunt of the attack and a quick look tells you that it is not going to stand up to to many more of this blows.
Borygg continues to battle against his opponent, Borygg thrusting his spear at his opponent again catches the warrior this time in the chest but like his previous attack it looks as if the armour absorbs the force of the blow, but before he can launch an attack of his own, you hear a sickly sound as the Ibanvaaler collapses to the ground, a spear has been driven deeply into his back, a young Daas lad not more than 16 years old stands in front of you, a smile beaming across his face. The lad attempts to pull his spear from the Ibanvaal body, but he is unable to do so and casts his eye about in search of another weapon.
Bryndis' attacker is now joined by a second "A shieldmaiden hey!!!" he says "I look forward to taking you!!" he says with spittle running from the corner of his mouth. Bryn now outnumbered launches an attack at the first opponent, her sword flashes in a downward strike and lands squarely upon the mans right, the blade slicing through flesh and bone, the mans hand hangs by a thin sliver of flesh as he collapses to the ground, his comrade enraged by Bryn's attack launches a flurry of attacks agains the shieldmaiden. The force of the attacks pushes Bryn back towards the fence, her feet search for solid ground with each blow. Catching Bryn by surprise the Ibanvaaler swings high and Bryn is able to roll with the blow but the spear point bites into her neck, Byrn feels the familiar sting of battle. Bryn can tell the leather has been cut as cold air can now be felt on her neck.
Eijryk standing watch at the rear of the Algared's group is set upon by an Ibavaal warrior who seems to have broken through the skirmish and has Eirjyk squarely in his sights. He closes the distance quickly and will be upon you soon.
Meldun regains his feet and prepares to square off against his atagonist when from out of no where a man the size of bear but with more hair shoulder charges the priest. Meldun is driven some distance and catching the fence falls over, this time on the other side of the fence. The priest has been levelled and lies on the ground stunned by the furious blow. Meldun is saved from any follow up attack as the giant seems to be having the same problems with the fence that Meldun has had, although the remains standing the fence has slowed his advance upon the priest.
Sigrun having run to the top of the hill has a vantage point over the battlefield. Several buildings have smoke rising from there thatched roof, while those of Ulauf Nildrom now are fully engulfed by fire, flames leaping tens of feet into the air, along the beach the 'Farvie' plus the two warboats lie burning on the sand, thick smoke rising into the air from the dying vessels. (This information is not known to anyother characters) The battle takes a rough line as seen on the map. Nearly 200 men are doing battle on the meadow below, the noise is a cacophony, loud clashes of metal on metal mixed with the low thud of metal or wood against wood, mixed with the piercing shrills cries and low sobs of the wounded and dying.

Sigrun will do the following, in order of importance:
1. Make sure no one else is on the hill or heading up the hill.
Post by GM You do look as though you are indeed alone up there
2. Evaluate cover. It looks like there is a tree line below her, but what's the hilltop like?
Post by GM There is only the one tree on top of the hill, a pine tree, the hilltop looks as if the wind has swept it bare except for ankle high grass, brush covers the western slope that ranges from knee to waist height
3. Scan to the east to make sure no flanking attack is coming that way.
Post by GM You are not able to see anyone approaching
4. Scan up and down the river, specifically looking for the third warboat, but also for any other obvious threats.
Post by GM There is no sign of a third warboat from your current location. There are several blind spots along the river bank (on both sides) that might conceal such a boat though
--- below here could change depending on the above ---
5. Toss her bag and Algared's staff sling into a tree at the hilltop.
6. If there are enemies within range of her bow, and not in close combat with Daas allied forces, she'll start shooting at them, choosing enemy archers, if any, first. She will NOT shoot into close combat unless she can spot one of her companions about to be overwhelmed. With her amazing eyesight, it should be possible to pick out some individuals. If putting one knee down will not hamper the shot, then she will do that so as to present a smaller profile.
7. Think of a way to signal Eijryk if there is anything to relay.

Re: 30 Peonu 720
Screaming his frustration and pain, Bjarni sees his shield is out of reach so launches an all out attack on his foe. Haakapik, fists, boots, teeth - whatever it will take.

Barak can see there is no hope keeping the four of them together, at least not until their current foes are defeated. That means dealing with his own foe first, so Barak concentrates on him, still fighting cautiously he looks for the opportunity to get in a killing blow. He hope his enemy hasn't fought someone fighting left handed before, and he can use that, his strength and agility to make a quick end of it. However, he'll give ground if necessary, remembering that there is a fence behind him. If he can take tactical advantage of it he will.

Outnumbered Algared gives ground as he concentrates upon defending against both his attackers.
(To qualify it is defending against both and backing up to stop them getting behind me)

Eijryk tries to get closer to Algared to tell him that Sigrun went up the hill, but when he sees one of the Ibanvaalers charging towards him he lowers his spear and hold his shield in front of him to make ready for the fight. He will focus on defending against the oncoming attack but will aim his own spear low to try to trip his opponent.

Bjorn is worried about his friends, but realizes he must deal with his own opponent first. Dropping his battered shield, he grips his heavy greataxe with both hands and attempts to finish off the Ibavaaler with one mighty blow. As soon as the enemy has been defeated, he will immediately turn and look to help Meldun, Bryn, and Barak.

If her shield continues to hold out, Bryndis will continue to block the injured man, and turn her attacks towards the newcomer.
Once her shield is done, she'll switch her sword to her offhand for blocking, and attack the newcomer with her battleaxe!
(until fatigue or injury forces caution!)

Re-orientating his view to being on the ground again, Meldun let's loose a howl of anger at his lack of effectiveness in combat. Meldun looks at the giant of a man closing in on him, quickly seeing that his foe is cautiously picking his way across the fallen fence in pursuit of the tiny priest. Meldun takes advantage of his lapse in concentration, tightens his hold on his axe and awaits for when the bear looks down again to secure his footing. Calling to Lynraal to guide his aim, he will let fly his axe at the mans chest (or whatever area that presents itself an easy, and valuable, target). Once the handle is out of his hand, he will scramble to his feet and pull his spear.

Re: 30 Peonu 720
As the fighting continues around you the confusion of battle increases, despite the knot of fighting men beginning to dwindle. The mass of wounded and dead on the ground around you does little to aid movement.
Algared's calls to rally on him go unanswered, perhaps due to his companions being previously occupied, or due to them not hearing him over the din of battle or just plain ignoring him. Algared stands alone. Withdrawing against his two opponents Algared gives ground but it seems he is being driven towards the centre rear of the Daas warband as if they are trying to open a hole near the cliff face to allow their comrades through. Algared fends off the first attack as an Ibanvaal spear thuds against his shield, he is not so lucky against the sword wielding berserk, the enemies blade cuts across his chest, the blade cuts into flesh and Algared grimaces in pain at the slight wound he has recieved. With an opportunity presenting itself Algared lauches an attack of own against the first Ibanvaal warrior, thrusting his spear at the man the spear point bites deeply into the mans chest, a cry of agony escapes his lips as he stumbles a few steps, he looks as if he is about to collapse but he remains standing despite the serious wound he has just recieved.
Barak's calls appear to go unanswered too as his companions seem to preoccupied defending themselves. The left handed fighting sytle seems to catch his opponent off guard but with each parried thrust his confidence grows. Barak continues his attack against the young warrior, however, his spear is turned away by the Ibanvaalers shield every time, the Ibanvaaler is like wise is unable to find a way through Baraks defence as each blow swings by harmlessly through the air or is turned away by Barak's shield.
Bjarni unleashes a flurry of attacks against his Ibanvaal opponent, the warrior is able to defend himself against the strikes and as Bjarni swings wildly he takes an opportunity to launch an attack of his own, thrusting his spear at Bjarni the spear point cuts through Bjarni's mail links, through his clothing underneath and penetrates on into his chest. Bjarni stumbles several steps, his peripheral vision becomes blurred and his knees weaken, but he is able to remain on his feet despite the serious wound he has just recieved.
Bjorn now swinging his axe with two hands launches his attack against the Ibanvaal warrior, the warrior sensing a chance to end the fight now launches an attack of his own, Bjorn is able to side step the Ibanvaal attack while using his own bodies motion to swing against the Ibanvaal warrior, the axe blade cuts through the warriors clothing, then through the flesh and on through the bone of his right thigh. The man's leg now hangs by nothing more than several inches of flesh. The man falls to the ground his spear and shield falling from his hands.
Borygg suddenly recognises the young Daas warrior as the son of Turri Batheson the thran woodcrafter although his name eludes you now. The young lad bends and retrieves a sword from a fallen warrior. He has moments to form up next to Borygg before they are both set upon by three Ibanvaal warriors. One wearing naught but leather leggings is covered in the blood of his opponents and is carrying a broad headed axe in both hands while the other two are both carrying spears and shields.
The three Ibanvaal warriors move against you as you form up back to back with the Batheson lad. You are both able to fend off the attacks of the Ibanvaal warriors as you continue to watch each others backs. The Batheson swings his sword with little skill and is unable to land a blow against one of the spearmen, Borygg is more successful as a thrust from his spear catches the other spearmen in the right arm, the wound looks to be only minor but it causes the Ibanvaaler to grimace none the less.
Byrn exchanges several blows with her opponent with neither being able to find their target.
Eijryk crouches as the Ibanvaaler charges, the mans spear point glances off Eijryk's helmet, flinching from the blow he looses his balance and he topples to the ground, his Ibanvaal opponent on top of him. Eijryk's spear is ripped from his hand as he falls. A moment of panic ensues as Eijryk tries to defend himself but he quickly realises that the man is neither defending himself against Eijryk's blows nor is he trying to land any blows of his own. Stopping for a moment Eijryk looks at the mans body and notices that he lays awkardly, Eiyrky's spear piercing the mans belly, the spear point protruding from his back. Eijryk struggles to regain his feet...
Meldun takes a moment to catch his breath and regain his senses after the massive shield bash he has just recieved. Meldun rises to his feet slowly as he watches his assailant cross the fence towards him. Meldun throws his axe at the advancing Ibanvaaler and the projectile is turned away by the warriors shield. The man continues to cross the fence and advance towards the priest.
From Sigrun's vantage point atop the hill she is not able to find the third boat nor can she see any sign of enemy warriors to the east that might be advancing towards the thran. Turning her attention back to the fight she scans the battlefield and picks out a lone warrior, her instinct tells her that he is an Ibanvaal warrior and so nocks and arrow and sends it towards her target.
The arrow flys past the warrior only missing him by inches, however, the arrow seems to have drawn his attention and after casting his eyes to where the arrow might have come from he scans the hillside and sees Sigrun atop the hill. It looks as if the warrior now scans the battlefield to find the easiet way to her position. He has set off at the trot as he makes his way through the melee towards her.

Re: 30 Peonu 720
Bjarni realises that he has taken two serious wounds and may have but moments to live. He is determined to live his last few moments well. As the spearman tries to withdraw his weapon Bjarni will follow to close the distance beetween them to negate the reach of the spear. He will grab the shaft with his left hand and grip with whatever is left of his massive strength and try to tear it from the warrior's hand. He will roar "See you in Talagaard, brother" to the spearman and reversing his haakapik will use the hammer end to smash his opponent in the head. And will continue to until he stops moving.
Assuming he downs his man he will grab the man's shield and look for Algared.
